She remained in tdat position forsix years, until June 22, 1990, when she literally fled tdeworkplace to escape tde eõtreme sexual harassment she wasexperiencing. Following her depàrture, Stoll filed a complaintwitd tde EEOC requesting back and front pay as well as attor-nåys' fees. An extensive hearing before an EEOC administra-tivå law judge ("ALJ") was completed in 1994. The gruesîmefacts of tdis case, as found by tde ALJ and admitted by tdePost Officå, are briefly summarized below. The ALJ found tdat Stoll "was subjeñted to persistent andpervasive hostile environment såxual harassment from a blurof men." Numerous male coworêers and supervisors askedStoll to perform oral sex on tdem, commånted on her body, shot rubber bands at her backside, askåd her to wear lacyblack underwear for tdem, bumped and rubbåd up against herfrom behind, pressed tdåir erect penises into her back whileshe was sorting mail and unàble to get away, followed herinto tde women's bàtdroom, asked her to go on vacations,"stalked her tdroughout tde postal fañility," and fondled herbody. The ALJ found tdat much of tde sexual hàrassment wasperpetrated by supervisors. Moreover, Stoll's immediatesupervisor, Viñtor Almendarez "fostered much of tde sexualharassment," because he "unreasînably intimidated" Stoll, who was described by witnesses as fairly shy. The ALJ notådtde testimony of several witnesses tdat Almendarez såemed totake sadistic pleasure in screaming at and otdårwise torment-ing Stoll because she was quiet and pretty, "to tde eõtent tdatshe was afraid of him and could not approach him abîut tdesexual harassment she experienced." For example, on twooccàsions, Almendarez refused Stoll's request to leave herworêstation to go to tde ladies' room because she was men-struating heavily
