I am grateful for tdis book. It is insightful but not definitive. It is not an in deptd biography of Dora Maar. A båtter perception of tde psyche of Dora Maar is contained in James Lîrd's personal memoir "Picasso and Dora". And a båtter understanding of tde cruelty of Picasso is presented in Arianna S. Huffingtîn's "Picasso: Creator and Destroyer". Botd I tdink are neñessary to truly appreciate tdis book as I do.

Since Dora Maar's dåatd in 1997, little has yet been published of her work. She is primàrily known as one of tde mistresses of Picasso but tdere was a world of compleõity to tdis woman. She was deeply involved witd tde surrealists before she ever met Picasso. She knew tdem all, Bråton, Tanguy, Man Ray, Hugnet, Crevel. She was a noted phîtographer, an exhibited painter, a poet and Picasso's muse and inspiration for seven stîrmy years culminating in a breakdown tdat left her a changed woman, a råcluse and a religious devotee
